MiFan Mama
Mifan Mama Scottish Registered Charity SC044683
History, Evolution, and Aims
Founded in 2009 by Julie and Tony Martens and a group of friends,
with the aim of bringing comfort and basic needs to a group of orphans
in Anhui Province, Mifan Mama has grown to reach out to orphaned
children and young people in difficult circumstances throughout China.
As Mifan Mama grew, we learned about other groups who needed our
help, and with support from friends, social groups and corporations we
have been able to supply help to facilities in Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangxi
and He'nan. These have been basic needs supplies such as rice, milk
powder, diapers and milk. Donations of food and clothing direct from
manufacturers are delivered to those most in need.
In addition to basic food needs, Mifan Mama has supplied clean
drinking water projects, financial support for education, medical
support for life-threatening conditions and also established Shining
Star, a foster home for visually impaired orphans in Shanghai.
With wide community support our Boxes of Love Programme has been
able to reach out to tens of thousands of children in orphanages and
homes at Chinese New Year.
The future for the children we help to support is improving, with your
help it will get better for more and more of them. For our future we will continue to work on expanding our programmes to bring the warmth of caring in addition to full tummies and warm beds to as many children as possible.
